Did I just draw 103 penguins on this page or did it just feel like it?

The hundredth page and it’s mostly blank?! Am I insane  – or lazy? Talk about missing the moment. Any right minded cartoonist would have made this page EPIC.

But we all know a comic page is only as good as the one that proceeds it and the one that follows, and why the hundredth page is a mostly blank splash while make much more sense in the coming broader context. Particularly in the printed context, which will be happening again soon.

So maybe it’s something of an anti-climax if you have a numbers fixation, but there’s still no reason why you can’t pop open that special jar of pickled herring saved for a special occasion. We did.

Like we said last week, this made-for-print double-page spread has been brutally sliced in two to accommodate this digital environment. It is indeed a cruel, cold,world. Full spread is here.

If I was really a web-cartoonist, instead of a paper-centric geezer using a web-site to give his comic someplace to live before sending it to the printers, I wouldn’t keep designing these double-page spreads.

Of all the possible solutions to this self-created problem, opted for simply slicing the page in half to yield two posts. It still reads fine, but if you’re really keen to see how it properly looks in one piece, you can have a squizz here.
